How to Build Classroom Community With a Talent Show: Free Editable Printables Included!

Hosting a talent show in your classroom can celebrate student creativity and build confidence. In this guide, we’ll show you how to organize a memorable talent show with free editable printables that promote positivity and make planning easier.

1. Get your students excited: Build up momentum prior to the talent show. Let your class know that everyone will be involved, whether on or off stage. Some will be performers and others will be supporters, but all roles are equally important.

2. Plan the Performances: Encourage students to showcase a variety of talents, from singing and dancing to magic tricks and storytelling. Provide a sign-up sheet for students to jot down their performance ideas.

3. Set the Stage: Cut out the performer passes, punch a hole in the center, and thread string through to make VIP passes for performers.

4. Spread Kindness: Have supporters cut out the sample signs (and make their own on the blank templates!) and stick them on popsicle sticks. Instead of 1-10 numbered signs that are often used to judge an act, have students hold up these signs in the audience to uplift all performers after their act. It’s not about who has the perfect-10 act, but about encouraging each performer to shine bright.

5. Let the Show Begin: Have fun performing and supporting each other!

6. Celebrate: Print out these editable certificates to recognize everyone’s effort and bravery. Whether performing or supporting, everyone plays a role in making the talent show a memorable experience.

A talent show isn’t just about the performances. It’s about fostering a sense of community and friendship that leaves a lasting impact on everyone involved. So raise the curtain and celebrate the talents that reside within each and every one of your students. And build bonds that go beyond the final curtain call.
